What is in a name? That question has been addressed for thousands of years. There are many variables in choosing a name for a child. Family names, traditional names and made up names, I have seen many variations as a Neonatal nurse but the only name that means anything is the name of Jesus.
The Bible contains at least twenty name for God, many of which enumerate the various qualities of a supreme being, but who can remember all God’s names in times of trouble? There are also fifty names for Jesus in the bible. Each name had a differential meaning and is useful for study and teaching but what name do you say when faced with real danger.
Many mothers asked advice in baby names and one asked her pediatrician, who named her other two children, what he suggested. He responded with Chardonnay, yes all the children were names of wine. One mom asked to me the correct spelling for a name, so I wrote it down phonetically. Bad choice. Later she said I misspelled the baby’s name and the birth certificate was wrong. I learned to never help with names.
When faced with evil call on the name of Jesus. When you need a miracle to keep you safe in a car accident call on the name of Jesus. When big life decisions overwhelm you call on the name on Jesus. He has the only name who really can help you.
