WORD OF THE DAY IS HOPE

Ps 42:5 Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise Him again—my Savior and my God!

The Psalmist is discouraged, sad and probably depressed. This is exactly what Satan wants for us because he knows that discouragement destroys hope. When we are this far down, and feel that we are stuck in mud, we need an antidote. The antidote is to meditate on all of God’s goodness to his people. Look at all the bible stories of people that God brought from discouragement to encouragement, David being our primary example.

Our thoughts can be the background for discouragement and lack of hope. When our thoughts seem to take over our lives we need to examine those thoughts. Are they negative? Are they something like “I can’t, I failed, I will give up, impossible and God won’t help me? I call all that stinking thinking.

You are what you think so turn those thoughts to “I can, I will overcome, I will achieve the goal, it’s possible and God will help me. Changing your thoughts will cause focus to shift from our inability to God’s ability. Pray for God to fill our thoughts and life will turn around. Change discouragement into hope today.
