Ps 8:3-4 When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers-the moon and the stars you set in place-what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?
Wow, how humbling is this scripture? Looking at creation is always a revelation. We often feel small in comparison. The reality is that we are very small, but God does not want us to dwell in our smallness. Being humble before God is total respect for who and what He is. Does this make us less in God’s eye? No.
After looking at the vast expanse of creation, which we cannot see completely, we wonder how God can be concerned and love us even when we disappoint him. Remember, we have great worth because He created us in His own image, and placed us just below himself and the angels! Never question your worth in life. Remember that God considers you highly valuable.
Our worth is the hardest thing for victims of domestic abuse to understand. I know because I speak from experience. I was beaten, demoralized and left in a foreign country with my passport, a plane ticket and a room for one night. That is it. No money or food. No hope. Then I remembered some words from years ago in church. GOD LOVES ME.
God’s love gave me hope and I returned home. Did everything fall into place after that? No, but with hope and strength that I can only attribute to God, I started over one day at a time. I called a friend who had invited me to church and made the conscious decision to go every time the doors opened. Next, I found a job and an apartment. Over time, I slowly healed from my ordeal and I believe this was the foundation of my walk with God.
