Ps 69:13 But I keep praying to you, Lord, hoping this time you will show me favor. In your unfailing love, O God, answer my prayer with your sure salvation.

After praying, David still feels rejected and broken by his circumstances. There is much in this world that tempts us to turn from God. We see hunger, sickness, homelessness and persecution all around. Do we throw up our hands and say, “why bother, whatever I do won’t make a difference”? No, keep praying for God to feed the hungry, heal the sick, and restore the homeless.

As altar workers in our church, my husband and I were sensitive to the needs of others. The economy had taken a nosedive and many were struggling to meet their responsibilities. One friend, whose husband left and decided not to pay child support, was sitting next to us crying. I leaned over, started praying, and God revealed that she was short $100 for her rent. After telling my husband what had happened, he shared that someone had given him $100 earlier that morning to bless someone.

Wayne slipped the money into our friend’s bible. After church she picked up her Bible and the money fell out. Shocked by the unexpected gift she testified that she was praying for God’s help, and the $100 was the exact amount she needed.  Not only did God answer her prayer but also blessed us by using us to answer our friend’s prayer.

  1. Hello Jena,
We met at the conference in St. Charles. What a whirlwind that was! We drove from the state of Washington to the conference and drove more than 4800 miles. It was a great trip and now I’m trying to connect with all I made contact with.
I looked at your web page and loved reading your devotions. I would like to post one on my blog page sometime if you are willing.
Your name sounds Mennonite or that background? Is that right? My maiden name was Quiring and it sounded a little familiar as my dad and his parents were of that faith. My dad eventually left that denomination, but I seem to recognize the names still!
Anyway, have a blessed day! Below is my website (www.shirleymozena.com) where you can see my blogs if you want to take a peek.
    Blessings to you,
    Shirley Mozena
