WORD OF THE DAY IS COMPANIONS

Ps 101:6 I will search for faithful people to be my companions. Only those who are above reproach will be allowed to serve me.

We enjoy the friendship of people. God never meant for us to be alone thus he made woman to be a companion to man. He also made two of each species so they could multiply and form family and social groups. He gave each species enough sense (instinct) to follow and group with those of like minds. There have been unusual bonds in the animal kingdom such as dogs befriending cats, chimps, ducks and other farm animals but what about us?

I have had “friends” who appeared faithful to God and his word, but when it counted, all they wanted was what they could get out of the relationship. They wanted the blessings: a good job, spouse and family, but didn’t want to put any effort into pleasing God, praying, or following God’s plan for their life. If you must constantly change to satisfy a friend, but they are never satisfied, it’s not you. Perhaps they just don’t have the same outlook on life as you do. As you draw closer to God, the truth will shine. God gives a positive relationship with peace and harmony. Negativity, strife and turmoil are tricks Satan uses to separate us from the love of God. Only love for each other, even when we disagree, brings God’s love to light.

We need like-minded people around us. Yes, opposites can attract, but deep down we need those who share our core values. David was wise enough to choose godly and truthful companions. We should do the same.
