Ps 101:2 I will be careful to live a blameless life—when will you come to help me? I will lead a life of integrity in my own home.
As I read the Bible, I ponder the word blameless. I believe being blameless should be a soul quest. Am I living a blameless life? In today’s world some feel this is an impossible goal. Sometimes we make mistakes when faced with hard choices, but the decision isn’t the problem, it’s the motivation behind it. Never allow hidden sin to dwell in your heart. When our hearts are guiltless and innocent, we have the integrity to fight the temptations.
My philosophy was to do my best and everything will work out, but on my own it was impossible. I needed to go back to basics. Yes, the Ten Commandments. Deceitfulness, laziness, selfishness, envy, and disobedience slithered into my life. After a very difficult time, which required much prayer and time with God, I saw my life differently and acted accordingly.
Before long, I felt different and realized that Jesus will help when I ask. In time I became more trustworthy, spent less “me” time and more family time, and I stopped comparing my life with others. This was what I want to be remembered for. A life of doing my best, but always with God’s help.
