WORD OF THE DAY IS ACKNOWLEDGE

Ps 100:3 Acknowledge that the Lord is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Until we know God personally, it can be very difficult to acknowledge him. When we accept and admit that God exists, we recognize his importance to us. We can’t do anything without him. If he had not created Adam, we would not be here. Everyone needs God, but some days I desperately need him.

I tend to put things away and then forget where I put them. Many times, I look for one thing and find several others I misplaced. One such item was a tiara for my mother. She had been voted as Queen of Mardi Gras in her nursing home. For a week prior to the event I searched everywhere, in drawers, on shelves and all through the closets. Nothing. My mother, who was living in the throes of Alzheimer’s disease, remembered the tiara every time I visited. I still didn’t know where it was. The day before the Mardi Gras celebration I finally asked God to tell me where it was.  Within a few minutes of prayer God said, “It’s about time you asked me, now go look in the storage container under your bed.”

There it was in a box labeled Tiara. Well, I felt really dumb. I thought of all the time I wasted looking everywhere before I prayed. Acknowledging my dependence on him not only for big things but even little things gave him honor. All he wants is for us to go to him in everything.
