WORD OF THE DAY IS VOWS

Ps 76:11 Make vows to the Lord your God, and keep them. Let everyone bring tribute to the Awesome One.

After many questions of why the wicked flourish, Asaph finally knows the answer. Making, keeping and supporting the vows made to the Lord. Sounds simple, but it’s the most complex thing for us to do. There will always be wickedness around. There was crime in biblical times, just like now. We may think it is worse, but it all comes back to breaking the Ten Commandments. When we accept God, we accept all his instructions.

Making a vow is commitment to fulfilling a task to the best of our ability. Sometimes a vow can be daunting, but if we are sincere God will help us. If the vow is a long term commitment the idea of keeping it may take time and patience. With prayer, God will supply whatever is need for completion.

But how do we support vows that will last the rest of our life? When we vow to love, honor and cherish the love of our life, it is until “death do us part.” After forty-one years of marriage I learned that practicing love everyday helps, but supporting those vows is even more. Loving him more than myself, giving all I can and helping whenever possible brings the wedding vows into a cohesive life that can and will, with Jesus’ help, withstand anything.

When we surrender our life to Jesus, it is forever, in this life and preparing for the next. Every decision we make, good or bad, will reflect and mold our future with him. Always return to that first feeling of surrender to him and let him guide you in your vow.
