Ps 69:32 The humble will see their God at work and be glad. Let all who seek God’s help be encouraged.
Humility comes from the wisdom God gives us and is a virtue every Christian should have, not in a “show-off” way but in a way that glorifies God. How is this possible? When we compare ourselves to God it’s easy to see we are nothing without him. The wisdom he imparts gives us the ability to be submissive, polite, and respectful. When we don’t care who gets credit for a job well done it comes from a heartfelt attitude of God’s grace.
At a wedding reception the bride came to me crying about a situation going on in the background. The stress of knowing what happened had made her unable to cope. I calmed her and told her to return to her guests. Then prayed for wisdom to rectify the problem. God allowed me to see what and where the problem started and then explain to the caterers exactly what the bride wanted and then to resolve the situation. No one even realized there was a problem and everything else went smoothly.
That day God showed me that with the right attitude we can be humble in our giving of love and help to others. After the reception, I felt enriched and enlightened how God uses us if we ask for the wisdom that imparts humility. As years passed I have become stronger in my faith through God’s grace to me and my humbleness to others.
