WORD OF THE DAY IS STAINS

Ps 51:1 Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins.

Once again, we are dealing with David’s sins, he was truly sorry for his adultery with Bathsheba. He realize just how many people he hurt with that “one little sin”. He caused the death of her husband and even the premature death of the child conceived in that act. This wasn’t just a sin against “man” it was a sin against God.

I think of Bathsheba. Did she feel she had a choice or was she just compelled to obey the King? During biblical times women didn’t have much of a voice in their lives or their future but was she just being submissive to authority? Remember she was also the mother of Solomon in the genealogy of Jesus.

Even though God forgave David’s sin, he did not blot out the consequences of the sin. Everything David endured after God forgave him were the consequences of his sins. His life and family were never the same again.  We need to ask for forgiveness yet never forget to learn from our mistakes.

I believe he loved Bathsheba but always felt the stain of their sin on their relationship. If there is something causing a stain in your marriage ask God’s forgiveness. There is nothing too big for him to forgive. Next, talk it over with your spouse. You will be surprised how God prepares the path for you.
