WORD OF THE DAY IS HOPE

Ps 46:8 Come, see the glorious works of the Lord: See how he brings destruction upon the world.

There are many places in our world that are referred to as “wonders” but some of them are man-made. We need to concentrate on God made wonders.  These glorious works can be huge such as the Grand Canyon but can also be something seemingly insignificant like a Cardinal sitting on the fence. We have a mated pair of Cardinals that fly together and sit on our fence. I get so much joy seeing them together. It lets me know that even the smallest of God’s creatures are important to him. Whatever God makes, rejoice in it.

Why do disasters occur? In large cities incidents happen from man’s choices of where, when, and what to build in an area. Perhaps we are over utilizing our green spaces. Natural and weather disaster are different. Can we control blizzards, tornados or hurricanes? Absolutely not but when we know the one in control we can be prepared with prayer. Some people believe devastating hurricanes are a punishment from God for people’s sin.  Who knows? All I know is if God want to destroy an area or city he could just like in Sodom and Gomorrah and there would be very few survivors.

I have hope. Hope that when disasters threaten we have enough praying people to have God’s mercy save us and bring us back to him. Without that hope life would be very difficult.
