WORD OF THE DAY IS READY

Ps 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.

This Psalm was written during the reign of King Hezekiah, as a song of deliverance from a fierce battle when God saved Jerusalem from the Assyrian army. God is always ready to help us as protector, provider, and strength. He gives us exactly what we need, even when we don’t know that we have a need. God is our refuge. Think about always having a shelter or safe haven when times are bad. He is ready and able to bring us through anything that is thrown our way. Nothing in this world; ability, social status, or friends can give us the lasting sense of security or stability that God gives.

Hezekiah was a good and faithful King and even cleaned out and abolished some of the evil his father had done. When Hezekiah became ill, he asked God for 15 more years. During that time, he fathered the next King but pride brought him down. After God gave him 15 years, he died and Manasseh, his son became the evilest king ever.

Because Hezekiah was a model of faithfulness and trust in the Lord, God was ready to answer his prayers. Can you say that your life would be one that God would be ready to answer your prayers? It is a goal we all should have.
