WORD OF THE DAY IS ATTITUDE

Ps 14:1 Only fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good!

This verse addresses atheism, but what is atheism? Is it intellectual superiority, or an inability to accept God? Is atheism evidence of a lack of teaching about God? Is one an atheist because they have never heard about God? All are possible reasons but the basic issue is moral.

An atheist is either foolish because he ignores the evidence of God’s existence or wicked because he refuses to live by God’s truth. Attitudes change when a sinner acknowledges their sin and asks God to cleanse them. A friend, who was very confused, told me that there was a God many millennia ago but he gave up on humanity after creation. His statement was an oxymoron. The fact that you believe the creation story proves you believe God exists.  Creation happens every day; the evidence is all around us. When the sun rises, a bird flies by or a flower blooms. We see the sunset and the moonrise. He countered with bad things that happen in our world on a daily basis. “If there is a God, why does he allow evil?”

Did this challenge my faith? All I know is that because of trouble and problems in my life, I know there is a God. Without the “bad” how would we know how “good” life is with God? Looking back, every time there was something “bad” going on I found something “good” in it. Some people call it a positive attitude. I prefer to call it a God attitude.
