Ps 9:15 The nations have fallen into the pit they dug for others. Their own feet have been caught in the trap they set.
Sometimes life is the pits, literally and figuratively. We all want God to help us when we are in trouble but what about our nation. David wanted God’s help so justice would be restored to Israel and for others to see God’s power. Has our nation ever had that lofty goal? He knew the King of heaven was just and no nation or individual would ever permanently get away with doing wrong. We also need to learn that precept.
According to history, our founding fathers wanted freedom, peace and to grow as a nation. I think we started on the right path, but something else happened along the way. As our nation grew, and more and more called on God for help, we forgot to consider our motives. Was it to save ourselves pain and embarrassment, or to bring God glory and honor?
There is so much negative information about our nation and leaders. Everyone is divided not only on issues but also on the concept of personal dignity. Why is there so much hate in the world? Character assignation is rampant. What happened to “love your neighbor as yourselves?” We need to pray now because coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; and praying together is success. Our country will never accomplish its full potential until we pray for God to heal our land.
