WORD OF THE DAY IS ADVISE

Ps 32:8 The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.

People can give advice which is their opinion offered as a guide. Many people seek advice on marriage, parenting and other life subjects. Even in health care we can give advice on life style changes, nutrition and even stress reduction therapy but unless there is active participation that advice may sit mute and unheeded.

God says “I will advise you and watch over you.” This exciting fact means he will never give guidance without being right there to see it through. He is present and active in every aspect of our life.

We wanted another baby so a doctor friend approached me about a client who didn’t want to keep her unborn baby. My husband and I prayed about this and felt a peace. Even though I knew the mother’s name it was to be a closed adoption so we interviewed with the lawyer and were approved. Within two weeks of delivery everything had gone well and we anticipated an addition to our family. A few days later we were notified that the woman was having second thought and was now undecided. We were warned that this can happen but we were devastated.

One night I went to work and was pulled to work on post-partum. This was not unusual when the need arose we all took turns to help the other units. As I received my assignment the gravity of the situation hit me. Our pending adoptive mother had delivered and she told staff that she decided not to put her baby up for adoption. I could have excused myself from her care and changed assignments but God said “no.” God kept me and advised me all night long. I was able to help her with not only her physical needs but also her emotional needs. I helped her understand that whatever decision she made it would be right for her. God was with me and made me strong every time she called for me. She never knew that I gave her baby back to her not only physically but emotionally and spiritually.
