Ps 41:1 Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor! The Lord rescues them when they are in trouble.
It’s easy in life to focus on problems. Showing kindness to those in need always helps me focus more on others and on God’s plan. Life isn’t perfect. We need to be grateful for what we have and be willing to share with others. It can be as simple as clearing out and donating unused clothing to local donation boxes. It may be inconvenient but God honors every effort.
Even when David’s friend Ahithophel betrayed him to help Absalom (David’s son) rebel, David focused on the Lord. He knew the Lord would rescue him. When a friend betrays you or even just ignores you, it is difficult to focus on the good things that God can do in the midst of the situation. When you go through this, remember that one of Jesus’ closest followers, Judas, betrayed him too.
As you read these devotions where is your focus? Are you stewing over a past wrong, pondering revenge on evil, or are you focusing on God and all He has done for you, is doing in you, and will continue to do in you?
